Communities Considering Community Choice Energy

California is the state with the most significant activity occurring in regards to CCA. Forty-eight communities in California have stated their interest in CCA.   Eleven communities are actively conducting feasibility studies and business plan creation - including City and County of San Francisco, Marin County, Berkeley, Emeryville, Chula Vista, and Oakland.   The next step for these communities is to formalize the implementation plan, obtain authorization from the local government authorities and CPUC certification, and implement the CCA.

A study of the 23 cities listed below, conducted by Navigant Consulting, finds that each of these cities has the capacity to meet at least 40% of its energy from renewable energy without notable impact to customer rates.
